Emergency Services

The Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield's is well prepared to respond to emergency situations. Emergency services provided throughout the Township include fire response services, police services, and emergency management planning. In addition, Ambulatory Services are coordinated through the County of Peterborough.
Fire Department
The Fire Department employs a full time Fire Chief, a Fire Prevention Officer and an Administrative Assistant. The remainder of the fire service is operated with volunteer fire fighters.
Police
Police Services within Smith and Ennismore Wards of the Township are policed by the Peterborough County O.P.P. Detachment; and the Lakefield Ward is policed by the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service.
Emergency Medical Services
Ambulance Service is provided by the Peterborough County and City EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Department. The local hospital, the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC), is located in Peterborough.
The Township Emergency Management Department has an Emergency Plan in place to ensure the co-ordination of municipal, private and volunteer services to bring emergency situations under control as quickly as possible.
Health Services
The Peterborough Regional Health Care Centre is a full service hospital and is located within the City of Peterborough.
There are two health clinics located in the Township, the Chemung Region Health Care Centre located in Bridgenorth and the Lakefield Primary Healthcare Centre located in Lakefield.
